The U.S. National Academies (also known as the National Academy of Sciences) has announced that: "As of today all PDF versions of books published by the National Academies Press will be downloadable to anyone free of charge. This includes a current catalog of more than 4,000 books plus future reports produced by the Press."  "Toxicity Testing in the 21st Century: A Vision and a Strategy" is available at:

Dear Marty,

thank you for the good news and nice offer. However, when following the LINK that you are providing from Europe (Germany) http://www.nap.edu/catalog.php?record_id=11970
there is only an offer to buy the book for 36$ US. This is the just same as in the past.
Is there a special deal only for US citizens?? Is there a LINK where a copy may be downloaded by scintists from outside the US for free ??

Dear Horst,

Sorry for the confusion.  One can still purchase a hard copy of the "Toxicity Testing in the 21st Century" report but now the PDF version is free to anyone.  Several lines below the button for "BUY BOOK" at the link I provided, there is another button "DOWNLOAD FREE PDF."
